BCE, Villeroy: no a ipotesi di aumento del target di inflazione nell'Eurozona

Il governatore scettico sul suggerimento di alcuni economisti francesi di sostenere un aumento al 3% dell'obiettivo di inflazione dell'Eurotower

 

Francois Villeroy de Galhau, governatore della Banca di Francia e membro del consiglio direttivo della Banca centrale europea (BCE), è intervenuto domenica 9 luglio ad un evento a Aix-en-Provence. 

 

Villeroy; inutile revisionare al rialzo il target dell'inflazione di BCE

Il governatore Villeroy  si è dichiarato scettico sul suggerimento di alcuni economisti francesi di sostenere un aumento dell'obiettivo di inflazione del 2% dello statuto della BCE innalzandolo al 3%. Il governatore ha definito la proposta “un esempio di una falsa buona idea" e ha aggiunto che un innalzamento dell'obiettivo di inflazione al 3% anziché del 2% indurrebbe i finanziatori a richiedere sui mercati tassi di interesse più alti. 

Villeroy ha sostanzialmente replicato negativamente al ministro dell’Economia, Bruno Le Maire, il quale aveva aperto al dibattito tra economisti circa l’ipotesi di alzare il Target d'inflazione della BCE. Per il ministro bisogna capire se ciò possa servire per tenere a bada i costi di emissione dei debiti. Il banchiere non la pensa allo stesso modo.

 

I tassi che verranno

Il governatore francese è intervenuto sulla politica monetaria europea in divenire e ha affermato che nell'eurozona verrà raggiunto “presto il punto più alto dei tassi di interesse." e che questo punto “non sarà un picco, piuttosto sarà un plateau alto” sul quale la BCE dovrà "rimanere per un tempo sufficientemente lungo per trasmettere pienamente tutti gli effetti della politica monetaria”. La dichiarazione del membro francese del direttivo dell'Eurotower precede di circa tre settimane  la riunione della BCE del 27 luglio, quando quasi sicuramente ci sarà un altro aumento dei tassi di interesse di 25 punti base, con meno certezza su cosa accadrà nel meeting di settembre.
