A distanza di due anni dall'insediamento, Keir Starmer ha annunciato oggi, 22 giugno, le proprie dimissioni dalla guida del governo e del Partito Laburista. Mentre il Paese osserva il passaggio di consegne, lo sguardo di Westminster si è già rivolto verso il nuovo protagonista della scena: Andy Burnham.
L’annuncio di Starmer arriva come l’epilogo di una parabola segnata da tensioni interne e da una crescente erosione del consenso. A questo collasso ha contribuito, ad inizio del 2026, lo scandalo Mandelson, in rapporti compromettenti con Jeffrey Epstein e nominato ambasciatore negli USA nonostante il mancato superamento dei controlli di sicurezza.
