EU/ENG - Brussels took center stage as the beating heart of European democracy for the launch of the European Education Week, a flagship initiative celebrating youth participation from April 24 to May 1, 2026. This week-long odyssey of workshops and high-level debates across the continent offers a unique platform for the next generation to engage with policymakers, discover EU opportunities, and forge a shared European identity. The journey began in the symbolic halls of Brussels on April 24 and is set to reach its grand finale in Naples, bridging the Union’s north and south by involving young citizens from across the EU and beyond. Under the banner of solidarity and equity—pillars of a more resilient and inclusive future—the event welcomed nearly 1,000 young leaders to the European Parliament Hemicycle. Representing the vast spectrum of formal and informal education, these delegates voiced their visions for the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027, debating and voting on proposals through the very same electronic system used by MEPs.
For those dedicated to international exchanges and Erasmus+ projects, witnessing this simulated Plenary Session was a profound and moving testament to the European project. Hosted by Ariel Bianucci and Myrto Vamvakoudi, the conference opened with powerful video messages from Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, both of whom addressed the assembly from Cyprus while engaged with the duties of the European Council Presidency. The momentum continued with a series of dynamic dialogues moderated by Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, Director-General of DG EAC, featuring an impressive roster of advocates including Nela Riehl, Yulia Ralko, Marios Panayides, Lars Westra, Rareș Voicu, and Anastasia Andreou.
The plenary concluded with an insightful conversation between Glenn Micallef, European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture, and Sport, and Magnus Lenngren, Vice-President of the Norwegian Youth Red Cross. Beyond the debates, participants seized the chance to meet their MEPs and explore the Marketplace, where various European Commission Directorates-General showcased tangible opportunities for the younger generation. As a vibrant embodiment of the 2026 motto "Democracy in Action," this event provided educators, teachers, and students a vital space to harmonize their ideas and spark new partnerships. In an era shadowed by geopolitical tensions, the gathering served as a luminous reminder of the primacy of international law and the enduring strength of a united Europe.
EU/ITA - Si è tenuto a Bruxelles, nell’ambito della Settimana Europea dell’Educazione, l’evento di lancio dedicato alla partecipazione giovanile, che si svolge questo anno dal 24 aprile al 1º maggio 2026 e prevede attività, workshop e dibattiti in tutta Europa per dialogare con i responsabili politici, scoprire opportunità UE e condividere esperienze. L’evento inaugurale si è svolto a Bruxelles il 24 Aprile, mentre quello finale si svolgerà a Napoli, coinvolgendo giovani da tutta l’Unione e oltre. L’edizione di quest'anno si concentra sulla solidarietà e sull'equità, due valori fondamentali per costruire un futuro più forte e inclusivo per tutti. La manifestazione ha accolto nella sede dell’Emiciclo circa 1000 giovani, rappresentanti di altrettante realtà europee del mondo educativo, formale e informale, che hanno potuto esprimersi sulle priorità della Strategia Europea per i giovani 2019/2027 votando nuove proposte ed emendamenti, con lo stesso sistema di voto che utilizzano gli Europarlamentari. La simulazione della Sessione Plenaria del Parlamento Europeo (nell'immagine in alto esterno del Parlamento europeo a Bruxelles - 24 aprile 2026) è stato un momento bellissimo ed emozionante, per chi come noi lavora da anni con gli scambi internazionali e i progetti Erasmus. Presentato da Ariel Bianucci e Myrto Vamvakoudi, la conferenza si è aperta con un video messaggio di Roberta Metsola, Presidente del Parlamento Europeo, e di Ursula von der Leyen, Presidente della Commissione Europea, a distanza da Cipro, dove sono impegnate per la Presidenza del Semestre Europeo. La sessione successiva si è svolta con conversazioni dinamiche a coppie tra relatori di alto livello, moderata da Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, Direttrice Generale della DG EAC, alla quale sono intervenute Nela Riehl, Membro del Parlamento Europeo, e Yulia Ralko, esperta bielorussa di advocacy giovanile e giornalista, Marios Panayides, Segretario Permanente del Ministero dell'Istruzione, dello Sport e della Gioventù di Cipro, Lars Westra, Delegato dell'UE per la Gioventù presso le Nazioni Unite, Rareș Voicu, Presidente del Forum Europeo della Gioventù, e Anastasia Andreou, esperta di comunicazione digitale, sostenitrice dell'inclusione e Segretaria per le Relazioni Internazionali del Consiglio della Gioventù di Cipro. La chiusura della sessione plenaria è stata affidata a Glenn Micallef, Commissario europeo per l'equità intergenerazionale, i giovani, la cultura e lo sport, durante una vivace conversazione con Magnus Lenngren, Vicepresidente della Croce Rossa Giovanile Norvegia. I partecipanti hanno potuto cogliere l’opportunità di incontrare i propri Europarlamentari di riferimento e informarsi direttamente presso i gli stand dell’area Market Place dove le varie DGs della Commissione Europea presentavano le proprie attività e le opportunità per le giovani generazioni.
Un’occasione preziosa per i giovani, gli educatori e gli insegnanti presenti per esprimere le proprie idee e creare nuove opportunità di partenariato, sotto l’egida del motto “Democrazia in azione” che accompagna per il 2026 le attività del Parlamento Europeo, sottolineando ancora una volta, in questi tempi così difficili per le recenti tensioni geopolitiche, l’importanza del primato del diritto internazionale.
