EU/ENG - On Thursday, March 26, the European Parliament approved the motion on the negotiations on the new “return regulation,” which aims to redefine the return policies for irregular migrants. The motion was approved with 389 votes in favor, 206 against, and 32 abstentions. Socialists, liberals, and the left voted against it and accuse the EPP of having betrayed by allying with the far right.
This is how the negotiation phase between the European institutions proceeds, aimed at introducing stricter and more uniform rules for the return of third-country citizens without the right of residence in the Union.
The MEP François-Xavier Bellamy, negotiator of the EPP group, said that the approved motion is a real turning point and that, after years of deadlock, the European Union will have the tools to enforce its own immigration rules.
The Socialists and Democrats, on the other hand, consider the proposed mandate to be against the right to human dignity, the right to freedom, the right to asylum, and the right to an effective remedy, and it undermines international law.
EU/ITA - E' stato approvata giovedi 26 marzo dal Parlamento europeo la mozione sui negoziati sul nuovo “regolamento sui rimpatri”, che mira a ridefinire le politiche di rimpatrio dei migranti irregolari. La mozione è stata approvata con 389 voti a favore, 206 contrari e 32 astensioni. Socialisti, liberali e la sinistra hanno votato contro e accusano il PPE, di aver tradito alleandosi con l'estrema destra.
Procede così la fase negoziale tra le istituzioni europee, finalizzata a introdurre regole più rigide ed uniformi per il rimpatrio dei cittadini di Paesi terzi privi di diritto di soggiorno nell’Unione.
L'eurodeputato Francois-Xavier Bellamy, negoziatore del gruppo PPE ha detto che la mozione approvata è una vera e propria svolta e che, dopo anni di stallo, l'Unione europea avrà gli strumenti per far rispettare le propire regole sull'immigrazione.
I Socialisti e i Democratici considerano invece il mandato proposto contro il diritto alla dignità umana, il diritto alla libertà, il diritto d'asilo e il diritto a un ricorso effettivo, e mina il diritto internazionale.
