EU/ENG - On Monday, December 1, French President Macron met with Zelensky in Paris, with whom he then spoke with Witkoff and Umerov, followed by a call with German Chancellor Merz, Italian Prime Minister Meloni, and others. "It's up to Kiev to decide on the territories," was Macron's refrain before and after the meeting with the Ukrainian leader, seeking re-legitimization after the corruption scandal that has affected members of his government. A convergence between the Atlantic and Russia is being sought to put pressure on Moscow, even though NATO, for its part, is considering a more aggressive stance toward Russia. Meanwhile, nothing is moving in Brussels regarding the funds for Kiev, given that the European Central Bank is unlikely to be able to offer guarantees against any seizures of Russian foreign accounts, mostly in Belgium.
